As a queer woman I have shot portraits of other women in my community. In the process of shooting, I was topless while the models were fully clothed; this served a dual purpose of turning the tables of model/photographer objectification, as well as sexualizing the gaze. Playing with ideas of identity and means identifying I have developed the portraits using the van dyke process onto different coloured bandanas, using the hanky code as a reference point.
